Introduced by Prime Minister Borden on September 20, 1917, this Act was designed to strengthen the conscription vote in the upcoming election. The Act took the vote away from citizens of alien birth (before 1902) without brothers, sons, or grandsons on active duty and, alternatively, enfranchised women in service, as well as wives, mothers, and sisters of Canadian soldiers.
